Have no idea if these shots will come through or not. Sorry for the poor focus. I am challenged with taking photos as well as computers and many other things.

Equipment:

Mobiles:
Motorola MCS2000 VHF
Vertex FTL-7011 UHF
RS Pro 2026
Cobra 75 WX ST (hard to see, left of the MCS2000 mic on dash)
Yaesu FT-8800r

Portables:
GRE PSR-500 (on rifle rack)
Moto XTS 2500 800 DTR (behind shotgun)

I have a King VHF and a HT1250 UHF not in the photo that normally live in my truck as well.

I can see that flying if you need to grab a gun and go.

From the looks of the weapon mounts and the items around them, I'm guessing these aren't the "quick draw" mounts where seconds matter.

Actually all the guns and extra gear are because I am a NYC cab driver.

Seriously though, I have been wanting to post my work shack pics for a while, thinking my fellow radio/scanner hobbyists would simply enjoy it, like we enjoy all the shack pics. I thought the goal with shack pics was fellowship, and not flaming or criticism. If I had known I would have gotten shredded or caused a ruckus for posting them, I never would have done so. This is my office, and it ain't the best, but I try to be proud of it. It's a never ending work, like most shacks. My shack just happens to have guns and lights on it. Get over it.

With that being said, I'll respond to a couple of the comments. This IS a law enforcement vehicle and SAR is a part of my assignment. So the guns and lights and all that stuff are legit. Sorry to spoil all that negative speculation that I would knowingly post an illegal rig on RR. Where I work, it's okay for guns, lights, and SAR to mix. We have over 200 volunteers in our SAR unit, and they drive our marked LE vehicles (that have red/blue lights on them) regularly. Not sure what goes on in Indiana but this ain't Indiana.

And yes, it is fairly cramped. You should see the rest of the truck. Every square inch of it is full of survival gear, fire gear, rescue gear, food, water, etc. I even have gear stored under the seats. I could live off that truck for days in the most extreme conditions the Colorado mountains can offer. Most of the gear is personally owned as well. I would tend to be happy someone was motivated to have the right gear and not care much about how it's stuffed into a vehicle, especially if it is used to save lives.

SAR is the main reason for all the extra radios. In a few months, I am actually gonna have to find room for a 6th mobile in it, an 800 digital. I will probably install a PSR-600 and remove the RS mobile scanner and the PSR-500.

If I ever get into a wreck, I'm sure I'll have a radio impaled into my head LOL. It looks worse than it is though. This particular rig is assigned to me, so it has one user, who knows where everything is and exactly how it all works. If it had multiple users, the cramped quarters would probably not be a good idea.

Oh yeah, I removed my avatar, as it seems to just be too confusing.

Thanks for your comments, and questions.

They do look like the regular quick release mounts, usually have a remote switch to unlock the mount for a few seconds (I remember most defaulted to 12 seconds). Besides, anywhere you have a gun, you better plan on getting it quick ;)

Haven't carried a long gun on duty in eight years, so I'm glad I don't have to find room for everything

Had some comments to make but I see now that Rod already came back and stated the obvious for most people, that Colorado is its own state and makes their [own] laws! So with that, I will say "Ado"!

Lot of nice equipment in there but one of the absolute worst installs I have ever seen. Ergonomically unsound and messy. Hope the passenger airbag is turned off.

ya really, the airbag is a good point. I don't think the PM went through rod what department do you work for that has so many SAR people?
When I was in Utah and wyoming it seemed like everyone had red and blues, I was surprised to see a tow truck with red and blues.

And I also believe that Mesa County Sheriff's are responsible for wildland fire in unincorporated Mesa County..

So, SAR, Sheriff, and Fire responsibilities out of one person....

RodStrong, is your name John BTW?

If it is mesa it makes since-

Rural Area Deputy
The Rural Area Deputy Program (RAD) consists of four uniformed Patrol Deputies and a Patrol Sergeant specifically selected for their ability to deal with the unique public safety situations in the rural and remote regions of Mesa County. For many years the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office provided a single “Resident Deputy” stationed in Plateau Valley. The remaining rural and remote areas of the county relied on Deputies primarily dedicated to the Grand Junction area. With the growth of the late 1990s, it became apparent that other regions of the county needed a dedicated law enforcement presence that was specifically trained and knowledgeable of their specific needs. Around the year 2000, the Rural Area Deputy program was created by Sheriff Riecke Clausen and the leadership of then Lt. Stan Hilkey initially with two Deputies. By 2002 under Sheriff Stan Hilkey, the program was expanded to its current size.

RAD program working with Mesa County Search and Rescue near Mt. Garfield
The areas the RAD program covers include Plateau Valley, Grand Mesa, the Debeque area, the Highway 141 corridor including Gateway and the Uncompahgre Plateau, the Glade Park area, areas west of Mack, and the desert area north of the Highline canal. The combination of rural environments and wilderness area require specialized skills, training, and equipment to fulfill specific missions. Rural Area Deputies are fully trained and experienced law enforcement officers that specialize in several specific areas including:

Wilderness Search and Rescue
Water Search and Rescue
Boat Patrol on the Colorado and Gunnison River
Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) operation and related laws.
Land Navigation
Water and Livestock Laws
Wildlife and Forest Service issues and laws.
Wilderness survival
Gas and Oil Field Issues
Rural Area Deputies are the initial responders and Incident Commanders for all Search and Rescue events in Mesa County and spend a great deal of time working with the various search and rescue volunteers to ensure they have the equipment and training they need

**The Rural Area Deputies also have access to specialized equipment to deal with these unique environments and situations. The one piece of specialized equipment that has become their trade mark is the four-wheel drive pickups they drive. If you see one of these distinctive vehicles you’ll know it’s being driving by a unique kind of law enforcement officer, a Mesa County Sheriff’s Office RAD Deputy.**

Nice setup nice pics

This is a very nice setup, but as said before its a bit messy, but over time so would mine and many others shacks so its not a complaint from me. I didn't relise from the original post that you live in Colorado and do know what you mean about Colorado having harsh weather conditions.
