• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ok guys, so I picked up a awesome 5000XTS. I'm working on it getting programed but I want to make sure i have one great radio. The specs follow:

Motorola XTS5000
Host version: R16.00.02
DPS version:R16.00.02
Model Number: H18UCH9PW7AN
Flashport: 50000040000023
8 Megs
Flash code:589088-80068-3-4
RF band: 700/800
Tuning Ver:R01.08.05
Proc Ver: BRAVO0122

It appears that I have:
Q806 ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display
Q498 Hardware Multikey Encryption w/ OTAR
H43 Trunked Remote Monitor/Radio Trace
H46 Trunked One Touch Status Message
G996 Over the Air Provisioning
H38 SmartZone Systems Operation
H345 ASTRO 25 Trunking Radio Authentication
Q387 Conventional Voting Scan
Q173 SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
Q361 ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
Q445 Fireground Accountability Software
Q446 Fireground Voice/Channel Announcement

Is this a nicely equipped radio? Further, can one increase the channel capability of a radio by increasing the megs of memory? How would i determine the channel count on this radio?

Hmm... These two statements contradict each other, Flashport code and Flashcode are the same thing. Which one is the correct one?

Flashport: 50000040000023
Flash code:589088-80068-3-4

The channel count is determined by the firmware version, and the only way to increase it is if Motorola increases it in a future firmware upgrade. R16 firmware gets you 1000 modes (channels).

Ben,

More than likely, he's reading one FC from the label (the original) and the other from the display (the reflash).

I pulled the Flashplug number off the back of the radio. I pulled the flashcode off the radio in service mode.

Looks like you nailed it, Tom ;)

The one displayed by the radio in service mode is correct. The flashcode printed on the label is superseded by the software upgrade - it no longer applies.

Landcruzed:

A flashcode has only 13 numbers and letters. Your list has 14.
The format is like this:

000000-000000-0

If you turn your radio on and press the bottom button on the side three times it will go into service mode and tell you firmware version and the flash code that is actually in the radio. Also check if it says anything about a UCM if not ADP Encryption would be a cool flash to have.
