Okay, I got it now. Mini, not micro. Got it.

I tried two cables that I use to program other radios. The USB drivers show as the following. Sentinel just asks for an SD card. I just tried with a fresh install on a different PC and see the same thing. Does the SDS100 program over USB?

Yes, it does. Do you get the prompt on the scanner to choose serial mode or mass storage mode when you connect the cable?

No. I did do a search and tried plugging in the scanner with it off, then turned it on. I wish I tried before buying upgrades.

When you plug the USB cable connected to your computer to the scanner's mini USB port you should be prompted on the scanner's screen to put the scanner into mass storage mode (press E key). Are you seeing this?

Okay, I did a Google search and found it needs to be the mini and not micro USB??? Why does it say charging by it. I guess I should read the manual.

Correct you need to use the USB mini cable & port for programming, connector looks & goes as shown. Micro port (above mini) only charges the radio and nothing else

Make sure your USB cable will handle data as well as power. Some are charge only and when you crank up the radio, it will not recognize the SD card.
