For my mobile set up, it's a 01' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Scanners are BCD396T, BR330T, BC60XLT. Pager is Motorola Adviser Elite for IPN pages. TomTop Go GPS, SunPass, and AipTec dash camera w/ Panverse mount. My Google G1 from T-Mobile suffices as a computer for checking e-mail and such. It's my mobile office for when I'm out chasin' news!

Thanks for the comments! :)

so do you jumb calls? or get news?

I believe you were asking if he jumps calls, and I have to say that the comment was not in the best taste. Even news agencies monitor emergency traffic and then dispatch teams out to cover it. What he is doing is freelancing and then selling work to different news agencies (I believe that is what the "op" is doing, if I'm wrong, I apologize for making a conclusing based up what I had read).

Even this was covered by a series from what use to be know as court tv. Keep up the good work and your shack and mobile are very good.

I think the use of handheld scanners without external antennas is a good move for a couple of reasons.

1) No antennas to advertise the radios inside.

2) Less intermod, overloading, and desense.

I still have an extra antenna on my trunk lip for a scanner, but I almost never use it.

I get pretty good reception using the antennas I have now on my handhelds. The agencies I scan are pretty close to me, so I haven't felt the need to install an external one on the Jeep yet. But I think I'll end up getting one in the long run.

I used to have decals on the side and back with my website logo, but I pealed them off because they drew too much unwanted attention. The last thing I want is going into shady neighborhoods and making it obvious I have expensive equipment inside my vehicle.

Thanks for the comments!

Curious about the bracket you are using for the hh beside the stereo. What are they and how do you have them mounted to the dash? Thanks

For the life of me I couldn't find a link to it but its simply a universal cell phone mount purchased from Walmart, works pretty well. It has VERY strong adhesive on the back. By all means it's not permanent, but I plan on getting mounts specifically designed for the scanner when I'm not in such a money crunch. I didn't get a third one for my older scanner because it's going to have no use for the most part in a month or so.

Curious what you do with your camera in your car. I have to put mine in a carrying case then bungy cord it to the back seat so it doesnt go flying when I am going to calls. I drive a bit fast.
