I have these scanners of the PRO-2004 lineage:

PRO-2042 Works fine - looked for one for almost a year, got sniped on another by 17 cents!
PRO-2035 Sometimes misses some of the top of the lcd segments
PRO-2006 Scratchy audio knob, otherwise works fine.

I was contemplating getting 2005 and a 2004 to finish the lineage, and decided what for? If anything, I'd get another 2006.

Can anyone tell me if there's any reason I should hold on to to the 2035, since the 2042 is the 2035 with improved firmware (I really like that it skips over unused channels when scanning.)

In addition to these, I have
Bearcat BC-210
PRO-51 (my only handheld, my only scanner for many years)
PRO-2041
PRO-2052
and my favorite, the PRO-106, except for its power barrel plug which I don't have a match to.
RTL-SDR for the CORNET P25 system, although I use the OpenMhz feed for the county P25 most of the time unless it's down.

If you're not aware of the product line:

If the pot can be saved, this stuff will do it.

EDIT: PRO-160 not PRO-106. It uses a barrel connector which I don't have in my extensive collection of both connectors and wall warts.

I'm going to give that a try today and see if it works.
I've used both the DeoxIT and the CRC QD Contact Cleaner on my PRO-2005 and PRO-2006 scanners (as well as their Commtel 205 and Handic 0080 equivalents) and they both cure the scratchy pots very nicely... seems to last a few years as well.

My pro-2054 ($25 Hamfest special) is STILL chugging along like new on my analog stuff. It pales in comparison to my SDS 100/200 radios and my Moto stuff but I cannot let it go. LOL..
