I dropped my pro97 scanner in the driveway on rocks and now the display is scratched. Radio Shack said they can't order me a replacement part so i would have to spend about $70 total to have them work on it. and the part itself would be $50. this is alot of bull. i can call yeasu or kenwood and order parts for my ham radios so why can't i get a part for my scanner?

i'm disgusted and the radio was new last february. i don't even know where to get a protective case for it. last i new radio shack don't even sell those.

the local store over the phone.
Call 1-800-THE-SHAC. You'll have a better shot of getting it from the number than in store (some exceptions are out there, of course).

12430633 CASE ASSY FRONT $19.29 In Stock NON REPAIRABLE

The info was posted a while ago so call the 800 number to check price and stock. It probably has the non-repairable entry because the speaker is glued in the front case and is not easily removable. You might have to solder wires to the new speaker when you replace the front case assembly.

I couldn't remember when either...nor could I find any good results. Maybe some kind souls will re-post some of the methods they have found. Good luck!!

Hey Blueangel-eric...How bad is the display scratched? Are the scratches superficial or are the scratches deep and pitted?

some bad enough i can feel them with my finger nail a little bit. so i guess some are deep and pitted. many are superficial from everyday use.

Brasso is a polish. You can get it at the hardware store. Try it. It may work I have heard of people polishing out there scratches with it. Worth a try.

Protective cases work well before the fact. They won't do much good now
