From the picture the sat 500 LED Mod doesn't look that well but
in fact it came out really well.

The 2 blobs in the picture do not show like it does in the picture, actually the LED's produce an equal amount of lighting on the display.

It is really bright and when the lights are off the LED's illuminate the keypad
really well.

I disconnected the keypad bulb and the 2 LED's on each side of the display shine
enough to illuminate the kaypad.

I tried with less bright LED's but it did not look well.

Now atleast after 10 years I have light!!!!!!

Good job! I wanted to replace the incandescent bulb with a white LED in my Sony SW55 but the service shop said it would be a lot of work (?). I figure it would be quite simple... what parts did you need to add?

I bought 2 Blue LED wit the voltage of 3.8 Volts at rs and 2 100k ohm resistors, had to figure out what solder points were positive soldered the resistor to the positive side of the led and how to route everything nicely.

It's been plugged in for 2 days and the LED's are bright and the LCD is nice and clear.

I chose blue B/C I liked the blue on the E1's, mine are more blue tho.

The picture doesn't do it justice my camera phone s*cks....

Yahoo Group for Satellit 500?

Hello Pavilion! I really liked the blue LEDs!! Thanks for posting that here!

I just picked up a Satellit 500, and saw you have a Yahoo Group. I keep looking for it on Yahoo Groups, but can't find it there, and when I click on the link to that group on your sig, it tells me it doesn't exist.

Please help... I'd love to join!

100kohms? Are you sure?

I have retrofitted a Sony CFR5090 with white LED's after suspecting that the ordinary bulbs were overheating the scale. I ran the LED's through 100ohms from a half-wave rectified 6v supply which is adequately bright - and goes brighter if you push the 'lamp' button.

You can also file the top of the LED to a wedge shape to get a better light pattern.
