Here's a picture of our dispatch at Creek Co SO in Oklahoma. It is really simple but it gets the job done. On the left is a Motorola Astro Consolette that operates on the Tulsa DPS trunk system, used for County. the Astro on the far right is our VHF set up that we use for County and several local police depts that we dispatch for. On top of that radio, next to the roll of TP :) is a device that looks like a phone; that is our deskset to talk to the Creek CO Jail on their 800 direct freq. The left computer is our ODIS CAD system, the right one is the OLETS/NLETS teletype station. Like I said, not very elaborate, but does exactly what we need.

Nice setup. And it looks like you have a great view of the bathroom, lockers, and water fountain. Woo-hoo. :D

As long as it works !

Hey Phil, looks good. At least the dispatch office looks CLEAN !!!! You say that the radios are "Astro's" I suppose that Motorola used some cases they had left over from their unsuccessful manufacturing of a radio they called the "Desktrac" We had some of those "self contained" base radios. The very 1st one they came out with worked OK for paging fire departments. THEN, they made a software upgrade. The radios WOULDN'T pass "higher frequency" paging tones. We had to swap them out for the Motorola MTR2000 units !!!! Steve/KB8FAR

I agree lawman, I wish i had a picture of the old dispatch center; Man that place used to stink during the summer when the AC would quit working with all of those inmates! and nothing could be up against the wall, b/c when it rained outside, it rained into the basement too!

consolette vs millennium mobile

Hello Phil,

I am impressed with your setup. It's very neat.

As for the consolette, why not use a Millennium radio? Surely, the millenium mobile radio can do all the consolette can do. Perhaps, you would like to control the consolette remotely or if there are more than 1 user, your boss perhaps? I can't seem to see the need to use a consolette if the millennium can do the same.

Best regards,
rfbu
