I live in an apartment, can't have a rooftop antenna or anything so I have a portable shack in my room.

Pro-83 with RS Deluxe VHF/UHF antenna for my town and surrounding towns.

Pro-96 with RS 800mhz ducky for all digital and 800mhz in my area.

Pro-97 with Diamond RH77CA on a suction cup mount on top of my window for best reception scanning everything VHF/UHF in my county, surrounding counties, and neighboring NY state.

I am all covered with my set-up. Please let me know what you think and leave a comment. Thanks.:)

Suction Cup on window with RH77CA works great. I can pull down the shades and the antenna is completely covered and doesn't touch the shades.

Neat!

Area map, codes and signals posted, scanners receiving what you want to hear. Looks good. Very functional and neat.

Good job!

Universal Radio carries the antenna mounts, they work great for the house or the car. Shack looks great Xpawel...............Hoser

Not Bad...

I live in a basement apt., and I seem to pick up everything very well in and around the surroundig areas. Some signals come in from the north out of the "Smokies." With good "stations" to listen to, it isn't difficult to hear them. Maybe you aren't as low to the ground as I am? Don't give up on the communities around you, and seek to find smaller transmitters, like drive-thru's and wireless mikes! By the by, it is a very good start! Some of my shack I can take into my Kia Sportage.

Nice little shack. I never even thought to use the suction cup mount at home to stick to the top of my window. I may have to go ahead and do that now. Nice idea.

How good is the deluxe as an all-around antenna (VHF+UHF+800)?

It is a good all-around antenna. Better than a stock ducky. Works very good on VHF/UHF and surprisingly it is good with 800mhz as well, much better with 800mhz than the RH77CA so it makes a good all band antenna.

Looks like my shack, cables running to the window. I do not have a "permanent home" install so I just stick whatever antenna is there in the window. I mostly monitor 800 and I get everything I need, that all that matters.

Antenna 1

Antenna 2

If I put a Diamond RH77CA on top of this, mount it to my window, then attach it to my PSR-300, will I see an upgrade in reception, and also, would one antenna be better than the other?

Will you see an upgrade in reception? Well it depends. I know I did but the house I live in has aluminum siding, putting my antenna on the window helped to stabilize the reception of some far away channels and am able to catch a few freqs on signal stalker now and was never been able to do it with the antenna on the scanner inside the house. I don't know if it will do the same for you. Like I said, it helped me since I have aluminum siding on my house.

It's not an antenna, but an antenna mount. Will one be better than the other? I have one of each. The RS version seems to have 6' of cable. The valor has 7' of cable. Both RG-58.
But I think the valor version has the better quality RG-58 coax. I'm still trying to figure out if one is better than the other but seems like it's the same thing as far as reception goes.

Good Luck on your choice.
