I like how tiny the FT-897 looks along side the FT-101 and FT-102! It's almost invisible!
Used to have an FT-102- very nice radio- loved the buttery smooth tuning system.
Some may agree- radio equipment has gone the way of Hi-Fi components and cars by losing some of the styling and build quality. You just don't see the chrome/aluminium trim and battleship build quality anymore.
I know it's a side effect of mass production but it makes collecting vintage gear that much more enjoyable!

Looks like MMSSTV on the second monitor from the left, not sure whats on the second monitor from the right next to it.
Thats one of the best slow scan programs out there. Maybe catch you on 20m sometime.
