My trunking scanner not working. Please help

I live in Huntersville, NC and I have a Radio Shack Pro 162 triple trunking scanner. I use butel.nl and radioreference.com to download trunking frequencies and all works. But when I unplug data cable and turn scanner back on I hear nothing. I can see the info I downloaded but no one is talking. Can someone please help me.
