i recently bought myself a ws1065 whistler scanner and first time having one and wont find any channels. Ill go through all the frequency's and cant find any, except one weather channel, and one person talking to someone on "HAM". And he said something about a landmark that was an hour a way, so i know it has reception but cant find any other channels. No police channels just white noise, white noise on EMS, aircraft, marine, Nothing. i have win500 set up on my computer and imported my radio frequency's that i want and non of them worked, all white noise. I have reception because the cop station is within a mile away from me. Also the antenna is secured tightly.
Please help me out, just put a list of thing that i should try, thank you.

To help, we need to know your location and what frequencies you have entered-it is possible your public safety agencies have changed frequencies. Does your Win500 file work in another scanner? When you say "white noise" do you mean you hear the rushing sound of squelch on all channels? If so, you should adjust your squelch so that it is just before the threshold where you hear the sound.

Welcome to the forums. As suggested above we will need specifics on your location and/or the agency(ies) or system(s) you are attempting to pick up so we can get eyes on the database to rule out potential issues like encryption, simulcast distortion, system compatibility (the WS1065 can only track P25 Phase-I & not Phase-II for example), etc.

No police channels just white noise, white noise on EMS, aircraft, marine, Nothing.
Ensure your squelch isn't set too low

We need to know your city, county, state, and which systems and agencies you are trying to monitor to be able to help. If you attach your Win500 programming file, we can take a look at it and check for errors. You will need to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.

We can't even suggest a frequency if we don't know your location. How do you know the frequency is active? The frequency could be DMR or NXDN which your scanner cannot receive. We need to know more information to help. If you attach your Win500 programming file as suggested in post #5. we can see what is wrong with the programming.
