It is not the firmware it is a bad SD CARD get a NEW CARD and reprogram the card following Whistler Directions.

I replaced the SD card with a new one still have the same problems

My friend changed the firmware back to 3.8 and all the problems are gone!
I don't know why 4.8 caused problems but as long as it works now I'm happy

How did you originally update the firmware to version 4.8?

Originally I updated to 4.8 using the EZ scan software.
My friend rolled it back to 3.8 using software he had on an SD card that he had.
I don't know what it's called or where it came from.

Just checking that you have an actual WS1080 and not a PSR-800, Pro-18, or Pro-668 updated to a 1080 by the Whistler Legacy Upgrade.

In that case, you should use the WS1080/WS1088 Handheld EZ Scan for your updates.

I did use the EZ scan to do the update to 4.8 but it doesn't give you the ability to roll back if you want to.
I had nothing but trouble with 4.8 such as:
1- when doing a limit search it would not decode DMR or P25 channels only conventional.
2- When going to a scanlist of mine I lock on wildcard and no TG's come in
Now back to firmware 3.8 everything works normal again I will not look to update firmware anymore only DSP.
I don't see any advantage in 4.8 anyway.

I would send a message to Whistler Tech Support and let them know of your problems. There could be a bug in the firmware.

I will see how the scanner does over the next couple of weeks and look into contacting the tech support if needed.
