There used to be a business SMR system, don't know if it is still active. It may have been sold to Nextel along with most of the others around here. When you say you "once" found it, how long ago was it? Weeks, years? Was it 800 or UHF? If you're on a hill and the conditions were good it may have been Richmond. Also, I think AEP has a system south of here on High Peak in Amherst.

I can make a call Monday and ask.

RR database still has Henry Fuller's LTR system on UHF listed but I haven't heard anything on it in a while and Henry's semi-mostly-retired now.

Are you in the area?

Jack:

My guy wasn't in yesterday, I'll try again. I searched 849-860 all afternoon in both CC only and regular FM and didn't hear any type I activity. I did hear some wierd stuff on 952.something when I was up around Ruckersville. I could still hear it in town but very weak. The FCC link on here had no listing for that freq in VA. I will try to get back up that way soon and maybe make an MP3 recording.
