Hello,

While recently perusing the 380 MHz area I came across a control channel at 380.075. I fired up DSD+FL and see the following information: P25 Site:1FF6B.-00A-11.1 NAC:00B

Using the NAC in a search I found Joint National Capital Region with it specifically pointing to Fort Hamilton in NY City as the site. Some of the frequencies didn't match up to what the database has listed, but the signal is weak and I originally chalked that up to maybe some false info as a result. Screenshot will follow.

At the time I didn't think much else of it and chalked it up to a tropo band opening, given that I often hear NY City area from my location on Cape Cod when the band is open. The weird thing is, this system is not going away, I'm seeing it 24/7. This is confirmed both via DSD+FL and via my IC-R8600 receiver which originally found it. I have seen no traffic on it at all as of yet, and just one affiliation request (Src=589628) in DSD's event log window.

I do have Joint Base Cape Cod pretty much right next door to me, but the signal is so weak I'm inclined to doubt it's coming from there. If it is Fort Hamilton I'm amazed that I'm hearing it all the time. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance.

The WACN.Sys_id decodes as EDV.FZ. This *might* suggest Camp *Ed*wards (part of the "Joint Base Cape Cod").

That's interesting...and if the case they're running in WLP mode. "Wicked Low Power"... will continue to monitor. Thanks.
I have seen DOD 380 MHz with low power. In fact, some years ago, all of them seemed to reduce their power probably as more came on line and some did not need high power. If you can go mobile, I would drive near the base with a receiver--even if not a P25 receiver, doing this with an FMN receiver should tell you by the signal strength.

Bill, I see NAC:00B in the data stream and at the bottom of the Event Log.

I'm going to take a field trip as soon as I can. These days the way things are going I'm fortunate to get done what I need to do. That said I just took a trip out of necessity in the opposite direction as JBCC. With a BCD325P2 sitting on 380.075, as I drove I initially heard nothing, but when I reached the open field known as Cape Cod Airport I heard a CC, weak but definitely there, so I'm thinking @dlwtrunked is onto something. As I drove away from the base the signal disappeared.

Yes, NAC of 00B buy a Sys of 00A, now we know this is likely JNCC but in reference to NYC they are NAC 00B and Sys 00B
the JNCR Trunk has over 15+ SysID's
