Today while searching several frequency ranges I came across two 800 MHz frequencies with what sounded like P25 trunking control channels when they are listened to in analog mode. The frequencies are 860.9125 and 855.6625. I programmed them in to a BCD396XT in a few different ways. First as a MOT system then as a P25 trunked system then as a P25 single frequency trunked system. I then set the scanner going in ID search mode but so far I am not hearing any traffic although the display at times shows active talkgroup ID's and the scanner does not indicate "ENC." I did a search of the FCC license database statewide for those frequencies there are no active licenses anywhere near the lafayette area. I only found old non-trunked expired licenses for other areas of the state. Does anyone have any idea what's up with this system?

Yup phase II is why your scanners don't have audio

Ahhhh, that's it. Well duh, doggone it. I as scratching my head for a while wondering what was going on. As a strange coincidence I was looking at the two Entergy systems last night in the database and I was looking for sites in Lafayette Parish or any of the surrounding parishes and I did not see any, however I remember their analog tupe ii system having a tower near the sunset exit on I-49. I guess I'm a gonna hafta program these into my 436 as it is the only scanner I have that will do phase II and submit my findings to the database. Strange how I did not find anything on the frequencies in the FCC database. Can private companies request that the licences not show up in a search?

I just fired up the 396 again to connect it to pro96com and analyze the control channel and right away it shows me a sys id of 064f which does match entergy's P25 phase ii system. I will post adjacent control channels when I get pro96com going.

Submit the main site your getting and those adjacent. You should be able to pick up at least 2 maybe 3 sites easily.

Quiet till major event

Entergy systems historically have not alot of traffic, until you have a severe weather outbreak, then
it gets more interesting.
