N female to Pl259 connector

I have LMR 400 with a N connection running to an external antenna for a scanner. Diamond antenna with a N termination. I want to swap out that antenna for another Diamond antenna that I already own that has a female SO239 termination . If I use a PL259 to N connector is there any loss in terms of dbm?

There is going to be a little loss, but nothing really worth worrying about. A lot of good adapters will list the insertion loss.

Use high quality adapters and the loss is minimal. For a scanner, you likely won't even be able to tell the difference.
Hint: High quality adapters don't come in packages of 10 for $15 off e-Bay or Amazon. Spend them money and get an adapter from a known company.

Just make sure you waterproof the entire connection well on the outdoor end.
