Has the N.Y.S.P. on Long Island abandoned 155.460? I have been hearing ops for Nassau and Suffolk on 155.505 with nothing on 155.460. I believe this is a change because for years I had heard minimal activity on 155.505 and plenty on 155.460. The nice thing was also that 155.460 wasn't duplex. Does anyone have any more info on this apparent change and whether it is temporary or permanent? TIA.

I just heard a car signing on at the Valley Stream barracks. That was on 154.935
Did not hear any response from Farmingdale. CTCSS turned off. NOTHING. Did hear 155.505 several times earlier however. Looks like they could be using more than one dispatch freq...maybe 155.46 is still active for Western Nassau?

Edit
Now I am hearing Farmindale on 155.505
PL is definately 110.9

Base talks to mobiles on 155.505
Mobiles now talk back to base on 154.935

At least that is how it was the last time I listened.

I can confirm 155.505 110.9 base and 154.935 85.4 mobile for zones 1L and 2L. 155.460 has gone inactive.

So both frequencies are needed to hear both sides of the conversation?

I’ve had those frequencies in my scanner for the past couple of days and have heard nothing, but I live in central Suffolk County may be it’s because of my location? Any ideas

Subwaysurfer:

My experience has been that the signal for NYSP has ALWAYS been very weak. The base is in Farmingdale, as they will identify themselves "Farmingdale to 1L25" etc. I often have trouble getting the base clearly on the Meadowbrook Pkwy so I'm not surprised you don't hear anything where you are. I don't know what they are using in central suffolk. I have heard dispatch for Western Suffolk (2L) on the above frequenices and DPL.

NYSP Farmingdale Dispatch uses a few remote transmitters throughout Nassau & Suffolk. I know they have transmitters in Farmingdale Airport Tower, Plainview, Riverhead, Farmingville Bald Hill, Noyack, East Hampton and maybe a few more.

I can confirm NYSP dispatch on 155.505 110.9 as of Saturday in Bridgehampton. In the clear with very strong signal. Didn't catch any mobile transmissions.

The dispatch radio is awful. I can barely hear it, and I live less than 100 yards from the SSP

Is this finding still true for long island? I am reprogramming my HT for my vacation out to montauk this week.

L Base 155.505 PL 110.9
L Cars 154.935 PL 85.4

Any other freqs or pl's found lately for troop L?

154.935 with PL 85.4 is definitely used in Zone 1... and possibly Zone 2
You may want to put 154.935 in once as PL 85.4, and again as a PL Search. I would be interested in knowing if 85.4hz is used across the Island, or if Zones 2 and 3 use another PL tone.

Also, place in the Statewide Frequencies as well. You will hear activity on those for Long Island.
