For those interested in former President Trump's 747. Yesterday, 10/15/22, it did a round-robin flight from/to Lake Charles airport (KLCH) as shown on the ADB-S website.
Assume it was test flight and will be on regular runs shortly if everything checked out.

Just a change in the equipment designation; Trump’s plane, N757AF, is a Boeing 757-200, the 747 is what a President flies around in. :)
Especially interesting when presidents who preach to us about climate change and for common folk needing to use less fuel still fly around in jumbo jets with 4 thirsty engines based in 1960s architecture, to hop into their 12mpg Suburban when they land 😄

One thing to remember is it isn't the president that picks what aircraft is used or car is used when he (or she in the case of the VP) travels, it's the Air Force and/or the Secret Service. Both the 747s and the smaller 757-200s used, when the 747 is too large for the airport(s) being used, are not standard versions used by airlines, but specialized military versions that are customized for the task of transporting and protecting the president or VP. The Suburban or Cadilac is also highly customized for protection as well. I suspect that your 12mpg is quite high for what they actually get after adding several tons of armor and the larger custom engine to handle that extra weight.

The VC-25B is powered by GE CF6-80C2B1 turbofan engines. They were not developed until the 1970s and are more efficient than the original turbofan engines.

The "Beast", as it is known by the USSS, is a cobbled together Cadillac limousine body on a GM Kodiak medium duty truck chassis and is powered by a twin turbo Diesel engine. It gets about 7 to 8 MPG. It uses headlights from the Escalade, taillights from the discontinued STS, and barely resembles a Cadillac. It, along with a second limo and a USSS Suburban are flown about on a C-17 that is specifically tasked for their movement.

GM builds another such limo every 4 years and the current model goes to the VP or the USSS fleet to haul around visiting heads of state or for training purposes.

A lot of folks don't realise the amount of support af1 uses on a trip. Sometimes it takes 2 ea C141's to transport the limos and armed vehicles for the entourage and the defense fighter squadrons used. So yea, a lot of kerosene and man hours. Especially kerosene.
The last C141 flight was 2006, all were retired, a few are in museums, the rest were broken up and melted down years ago.
