How do you determine if a system is narrow or wide band. I was reading thru the BCD-396T manual and found that I need to program it on EDACS sytems. I intend to program the Volusia county, FL system. What other tips do you have on programming EDACS systems if any ? I appreciate the help as I am new to trunktracking.

Narrow Band and Wide Band are terms dealing with frequency and band width. They have nothing to do with the type of system. The choice of terms used by Uniden in the manual leaves a lot to be explained.

EDACS systems come in three system types (ignoring ESK), Standard, Narrow and SCAT. What Uniden should have chosen as choices are those, but they went their own way (again) and used Wide, Narrow, and SCAT. Most EDACS systems are Standard (or Wide as Uniden calls them). This deals with the data bandwidth of the control channel, not the frequency band width.

You can determine your particular system's type, by looking it up here in the RR Database. (See link at top of page.) Look at the System Type when you drill down to the target system.
