I believe that the new spacing is 8.33 . I believe that it is still A.M..
These scanner will SCAN and SEARCH this spacing, right?

How can you tell if the step is at 8.33 for airband frequencies on the 500?


The easiest method would be to press Tune, enter a VHF-AIR frequency, and then use the up and down arrows to see the next frequency. They should move in 8.33 khz steps.

I entered 120.5 into tune mode. When I press the up arrow, I see 120.508333 as a frequency.

There has been much talk of moving to 8.33 khz spacing in the US; it's very common in Europe. It's going to be quite a while, I think, before it's the standard here. I'm sure this has to do with the number of private individuals that may not have a radio that is capable of supporting this spacing, not to mention the numerous airports - large and small - as well as UNICOMs and other facilities that would need to be changed. 73 Mike
