I just heard that we'll need to go to narrowband on our statewide tactical channels by July (or possibly June) 2011. I only heard mention of the "white fire" 1,2,3 channels.

Does anyone know if this is a statewide movement? I wasn't expecting those to be converted until 2012. I heard this through our county radio sysadmin but didn't get any details.

I guess a good start would be letting us know what state you are refering to.

It is part of the statewide move. White 2 and 3 are being narrowbanded and renamed to Vfire 22 and 23. Additionally Vfire26 is being added in. At least for my local area, white 1 is being left alone till early next year.

Well, this is in the California forum, so that's a good start.

Thanks. The name change is probably going to be the hardest for people.

Here is the PDF file for the white channels narrowbanded and renaming them http://www.napco.org/Documents/CALEMA_BULLETIN_28-1.pdf

Great document, thanks!
