Narrowband Marine Freq's?

Since the VHF marine band was supposed to be exempt from the narrowbanding mandate can someone please explain this?

It has nothing to do with Part 90 narrowbanding. The narrowband marine channels were created almost 20 years ago and are not in widespread use yet.

This is an example of what/how the channel spacing and numbering would be if/and when narrowbanding would be applied to these frequencies.

In all my Maritime VHF and UHF Monitoring, I have never encountered these Narrowband channels in use, either here in the USofA or Internationally. [YMMV] I don't even know of a vendor selling Narrowband VHF Equipment [never went looking tho either] nor have I seen any advertisements for them.
