Is narrowband 6.25KHz or 12.5KHz? If it's 6.25KHz, then what would 12.5 and 25 be considered? Is the frequency 453.1625 considered narrowband?

6.25khz is narrowband, 12.5khz & 25khz are wideband.

any frequency that goes to the 10 thousandths place is narrowband.

EDIT: also, I belive the terms narrowband and wideband are relative terms, so for example 12.5 would be narrowband when compared to 25khz.

In today's vernacular, 12.5 kHz bandwidth is "Narrow-band", and 25 kHz is normal or "wide-band".

Before the current move to re-farming or narrow-banding, 25 kHz was considered "normal", and old 50 kHz was "wide-band".

I don't know if anyone has come up with a common name for 6.25 kHz, other than just calling it "Six and a quarter".

Using the center frequency as a way to determine bandwidth is not proper or conclusive.

A signal at 453.1625 could be 25 kHz, 12.5 kHz or 6.25 kHz wide.

7.5 khz is also narrowband. Does any know if 7.5 khz in vhf used more them 6.25?

7.5 kHz (VHF) channel centers often use 12.5 kHz bandwidth FM or 8 kHz bandwidth P25.

It's true, you can't tell from the frequency itself if a channel is
"narrowband". A UHF MPT-1327 in my area uses narrowband
analog voice (11kHz BW), 6.25kHz steps (likely for future channel
assignments), but some of the frequencies are 451.5000,
451.6000 etc. Many are on 12.5kHz grid, and none on the 6.25kHz
grid (yet). I have seen in the database some UHF LTR systems
using 6.25kHz frequencies e.g. 451.30625.

Some FCC references call the 6.25 and 7.5 spacing channels "supernarrowband."
