NAS Corpus Christy, Shamrock?

Been monitoring NAS Corpus Tower recently I hear Pilots calling solo and Shamrock, I did a net search and on the forums here as well but no explanation to what Shamrock is, based on when it's announced my guess is it's a outer marker of something like that I probably should post this question on a aviator forum I guess Anyone now for sure? Thanks Edit I was just looking at a local map and I noticed there is a island called Shamrock, so there's my answer lol.

Sounds like a Reference Point also here is a document that lists "Point Shamrock" multiple times for NAS CC

I'm on Padre Island the EDC control channel is strong but for some reason the CCPD talkgroups keep cutting out, it's vey frustrating, I'm able to listen on Flourbluff EDC with no issue any idea what's causing that and what the remedy might be? Thanks for any info.

Shamrock used to refer to Shamrock Island just off shore - that was at one time the start point of solo orientation flights - google "Shamrock Island Corpus Christi" for a location and map. As to the FB site, I know it has been giving them problems lately, several times in recent days have heard dispatch advise that the Bluff site was down and units to switch to Shoreline.

If you take a look I was referring to issue with the Padre Island EDC, I haven't experienced any issues with the FB site yet.

Former VT IP here. PT Shamrock is one of the VFR entry points back to Truax Field (NAS Corpus Christi). All student solo flights must use solo in their call sign.

You would use to hear something like "Navy Corpus Tower, Ranger 734 PT Shamrock for the full stop".

Some course rules may have changes now that they are flying T-6's vs T-34's.
