as most everyone is aware, NASA is planning a 833am (Eastern Time) 29 August launch of the Artemis moon rocket.

Please keep all Artemis launch related posts in this thread.

CAVEAT EMPTOR: THIS IS THE FIRST ATTEMPT AT THE ARTEMIS LAUNCH. Currently, weather looks GOOD - but we are a week out --- and, it's Florida ------ MY OPINION - stress OPINION - is that the chance of a successful "on time" launch is AT BEST --- 50/50. YMMV.

you can expect 100k + people to attend this launch.... (my guess is north of 200k - but we will see)

The KSC P25p2 system is VERY active - even this weekend - with photo/timing/video set ups being worked on.

I've also updated the KSC monitoring guide which is attached to this post.

I wonder if I will be able to see much from my backyard in Oviedo at that hour?
Noy sure should see something, but nothing like the old saturn5's in the moon days. Was on the NASA Causway four miles from the pad and saw it. Shattered have the windows in Titusville.

While I’ve not read anything official on noise levels - the SLS does produce more thrust than Saturn 5 did……

There is a Mexican restaurant with a tiny beach to the west. I am trying to recall exactly where. I am thinking I might go watch from there.

If SLS is as loud as the Apollo program’s Saturn V rocket was, the noise should be between 120 and 125 dB about 3.5 miles southwest of the launch pad, about as loud as a jet plane’s takeoff.

Meanwhile, here is the link to the press kit.

Huge turnout for a scrubbed test flight. Got there around 820AM and nowhere to park. Heard it was scrubbed on SARNET.
