Has anyone had any luck tracking NASA Langley's system? I can't find any entries in the database here or in the FCC datasets for anything licensed to the center. I suspect their license is under Gately's name since they won the last contract for maintenance but I can't seem to find the system, been looking for days.

Anyone have any insight? Maybe talkgroups in someone else's system or STARS?

Thanks.

Has Hampton completely abandoned the EDACS system or is it still being used by city services?

All the city talkgroups from the old EDACS system migrated over to their P25 system, and there's activity on those channels (public works, etc). Not sure what happened to the old system but I know that NASA no longer carries the Ericsson radios, they've moved on to VHF equipment.

You won't find licenses for federal agencies in the F.C.C. database. Their licensing is handled by the N.T.I.A.'s Office of Spectrum Management, and that information is not available to the general public.

Langley contracted with the Whitestone Group last November to provide a wide range of security services for the NASA facilities, including NASA offices on the AFB. You might want to look for licenses for them in the F.C.C. ULS.

Any chance some of the center operations use the AFB trunked system ?

Thanks Jeff, great link.

I don't think they're sharing with LAFB, according to an equipment list in the contract page you linked to and another one that I found over the weekend NASA is still using VHF equipment and Langley's system is UHF.

I did check for Whitestone in the FCC database and they only had one site licensed to them (directly) and those aren't national frequencies; almost all of them are being used by other businesses in the Hampton Roads area.

Well, after getting a look at the antenna on one of the security vehicles it became clear that they were using VHF instead of UHF like the contract documents stated.

So for the last day or so, I left a scanner in discovery mode on LAFB's system...low and behold, NASA is sharing that system with LAFB for security and maintenance. Most of the talkgroups aren't documented on the Langley page, but some are with other labels; so it appears they reused some old groups.

I'll submit an update request for the system, and keep running discovery to see what else is out there.
