I was wondering when there was going to be a thread on the NASCAR event this weekend... I will be up there & I plan on bringing my scanner to listen to the cars and the LTR system... any other notable frequencies to monitor while in the area?

In 2019? Or 2018 I dont think I caught the ltr.? But did recall last year or so before the hiatus saw the rental radio system was up. That had been posted in wiki.

Did u catch that comm direct rental system or did it seem like all ltr and other uhf

the track operations were mainly on uhf analog repeaters/simplex. not sure if the repeaters belonged to the track or were set up by the radio vendor.

i didn't hear anything on the LTR system, but I may have programmed it wrong in my scanner.

Joliet PD had officers in and around the track. i didn't see any other law enforcement present, so I'm assuming they used an encrypted talkgroup for racetrack details.

Did the RE ota appear simplex to u? Ive had people tell me its a repeater but I bet its a ht or mobile radio on simplex as range of RE ota is not great.

Simplex. Probably 4watts or little more tx. Based upon where I could pick it up, and where the trailer was parked.
Covered the whole property.

I never saw radio used but willing to bet its simply a handheld connected to base antenna and pc lol. Now what the modulation type is .... is yet another question 🤔 lol
