Looking up driver frequencies for the Chicago Land Speedway race today has been an exercise in futility. I found conventional channels of drivers, last checked in 2006 I believe. Maybe 2008. And then, sometime during this search over the last few days, I've found Driver names but all appeared to be encrypted.
I suspect I should stop wasting time, but still wondering if there is any possibility of monitoring the drivers. And, if I could, I am probably too far away from Joliet to pick them up.
I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks. Greg

Try for 454.000, the MRN frequency. If you can't get it you won't get anything else, remember it's almost all simplex UHF. The officials DMR stuff might be on a repeater but even if it is it's encrypted from what I've read and the main channels simulcasted onto analog. Driver to crew channels are required to use analog when on the track, although the crews can use digital and encryption among themselves and with the cars when they're in the pits or garage during practice. From what NASCAR has said they have no plans to ever encrypt in-race driver to crew communications.

Jayski's list, the first link, is by far the best and most up to date source of information.

Both of you guys are great! Thanks. I never thought to look at a NASCAR site. I sure burned thru RR data tho.

I don't travel the country with NASCAR; just thought the Chicago Speedway would be fun. Guess I'm a little late but again, thanks. Greg

Next time, just walk up to any Racing Electronics trailer (there will be several) and buy the freq list from them. It's like $5.00 and will be up to date.

Thanks Scott. I've got to admit that I've been a NASCAR fan most of my life...but never actually saw a live race. My cousin was married to a guy who worked for Goodyear, and he somehow had up front seats...right at the pit stops. I had an open invite to tag along any time, but the poor guy passed away. I can imagine the excitement for a guy like me to be standing next to a pit crew!! I'd walk around and give them advice...LOL.

Dirt track fan here in Minnesota.
While there are links for NASCAR frequencies and their drivers, there aren't many sources for localized tracks using whatever frequencies. For me it's been hunt and peck to discover what frequencies are used where.
I've got a list of frequencies many tracks in Minnesota and Wisconsin uses. Almost every track uses 454.0000 for their line-ups to the drivers via their RACEceivers.

On my Uniden BC125AT I got very familiar with the Close Call feature to discover secondary frequencies used among the officials and grounds crew. If it's a smaller race circuit you're attending chances are not even the track officials or owners know what frequencies they use (at least that's what I've discovered.)

Note the multiple entries for 454.000. I did this so there's little to no time delay's between scans and transmissions. It's worked like a charm for several years now.

You've got to see a live race, it's a very different experience. My first race was in the infield in turn 4 at Talladega. You feel the rumble of the engines in your chest. Of course, I had my scanner too. Not that I wanted anyone to crash or get hurt but wouldn't you know it, it was the first race ever there without a crash.
