I just noticed while they were showing Danica Patrick's Crew Chief he had a Mototrbo radio, so they might be using it! I haven't decoded it too.

Has anybody decoded any of the race teams' mototrbo radios?

You can decode TRBO transmissions via a Linux computer and special software that is available, but there is no "scanner" that can decode TRBO.

I am an engineer for a top NASCAR team and I can tell you that it's not worth the effort to try to decode. We use XPR 6550 radios and the TRBO comms are encrypted and are intended to be used among the team in the pits and pit to pit comms for multi-car teams. All of the driver to pit comms are in the clear and will always be that way. You may see a mix of XPR6550 and EX600 radios as not all team members have the 6550.

Depends on the type of encryption they're using. Basic privacy only has 255 codes so with enough time, you could reprogram your radio and find the code.

In a top $$ sport such as NASCAR I can only assume they would be using Enhanced Privacy.... But you never know!! I can only assume the track officials are likely using Privacy as well.

So the do the drivers, crew chief to driver, and spotter to driver use Trbo or analog? I've got my scanner programmed if I ever go to the track, but want to make sure it's not Trbo first.

All crew chief/driver/spotter comms have been mandated to be analog by Nascar.

What NASCAR channels are digital? We did our yearly training and used NASCAR radios. I didn't even think to look at the model numbers.
