I watched it happen live up here in Chicago-land online at WSMV - 4 stream. I was looking at NOAA radar downstate in ILL-annoyed and saw all the stuff earlier in Mo-IL-KY and followed that until it seemed to let up over by Nashville. The TV weather people made it sound like it was all dying off. Looked at the radar again 8 minutes later and they had a Red Warning box with big-ass hook echo. Turned them back on. The TV station was just south of the storm cells, missed them. They went to a TV cam on top some building and while the lady and man were yapping about some map icon *surface circulation in red* the CAM picked up the Tornado going across the screen just north of town, blowing up the telephone, electric wires. It looked like a war zone and they were busy marveling at the radar graphics. I'm laughing, look at your own TV FEED idiots! it's right there blowing stuff up like a bombing raid. One Dist 3 State Police out by Dickson? dickerson? Co said on Broadcastify "What's this text I got on my phone about taking-cover?!" he had no warning when it first came down out west and just north of him. What a mess down there. March in like a lion eh? Thanks for the link.

The media tends to exaggerate anytime we are within even "slight" risk of thunderstorms on SPC convective outlook. There is also a NWS liaison twitter account run by amateur weather folks with over 100k followers that also tends to play up what tend to be mild weather events and this gets everyone riled up and worried when they don't need to be.

Last night, none of the usual antics were happening from these folks when they actually needed to be raising awareness. Before people went to bed, word was we might get some rain and the bad storms were staying north of Nashville. They were just talking about rain and storms moving north of Nashville. So a lot of people never saw it coming. The actual tornado watch didn't go out until a lot of people had gone to bed.

I was listening to the nationwide overnight Red Eye Radio REDE-CM show and heard the breaking news announcement; WTVR was on the air with news crews out and about. Watched the live coverage for a while. WTVR apparently has preempted regular programming ( Live storm Coverage ) as I write this. I note the station streams via Roku as well. The Tennessean newspaper and wsmv.com TV have extensive coverage as well.

Unfortunately people died and the search continues.

President Trump will be going to Nashville on Friday, the 6th.

Was listening to the radio throughout the event. Have never heard so many dispatches in my life. It was literally non-stop for as long as I was listening. I can't imagine how long the dispatch queue was.

We are in for slight risk in Louisiana later on today and Wednesday. My prayers go with you good folks. I have a good friend who lives up there, he was my Captain at the Sheriff's Office in Baton Rouge. He retired and took a job as Chief in Lynville. He and family are ok.

March 3rd is not a good day. It was one year ago today that a tornado swooped down and took 23 lives in nearby Lee County, Alabama.

I listen to Red Eye Too, as far back as when they first were named Midnight Trucker's Network. Gary McNamara used to be out in Rockford IL and golfed all the same places I used to, ate at the same haunts. His Dad lived out there If I remember. I enjoy his stories about Chicago and Rockford. Eric and Gary are alright. I went to bed right after I posted that comment last night. I was hoping it wasn't as bad as it looked on TV Roof-CAM. It was worse. Sad to hear so many people got killed and hurt. Glad to hear the President is going to visit. I remember the last thing they had in the Nashville area. The FLOODS. By the time FEMA finally got around to going there back then? they (Gubment) were shocked on how much the people and private sectors did to fix things and rebuild by themselves. Nashville will recover again the same way.

I live about 15 miles south of Cookeville. Its worse than it looks. I was up watching wtvf when the Nashville tornado went across the studio, then listened as it went into Putnam county. Lots and lots of hail here with some debris. Mainly shingles that didn't belong here.
