Hi everyone,

I am picking up control channel on 851.3375 in central Queens which is one of the frequency of the Nassau County 800 MHz system. This is the same system ID as the Nassau County UHF P25 system so it is highly likely that it is tied to the same core. The system is also advertising Slot 2 band plan but only on 700 MHz.

System ID: 1AE
RFSS 1
Site 3
Neighbor Site: 1 and 2
851.3375 (Primary Control)
851.1875 (Alt Control Channel)
851.5875 (Alt Control Channel)
851.625 (Alt Control Channel)

No affiliations or voice traffic heard yet.

The system is capable of Phase 2, but that doesn't mean the radios are capable or talk groups are configured Phase 2.

The long standing rumor is they are going to sunset the EDACS system and migrate the UHF P25 system into the 800MHz frequencies.
This should allow better communications between the two systems.

I don't want to speculate on the "E" tag, but I'm going to enjoy listening to NC Sheriff's Office while I still can.

Is the 800 site a phase 1 or phase 2?
See @CqDx 's post above. Just like the 500Mhz part of this system, it is phase 2 capable.
The 500MHz layer also broadcasts that it is Phase 2 capable, but it only has phase 1 talk groups.

We will find out more once talk groups are added onto the system.

Here is the excerpt of the project background from the public 2019 capital budget plan from Nassau County, nothing really new but good to know nonetheless!

The Countywide Radio System (98130) funds improvements to the system that is used by various
County agencies, as well as local fire departments and other first responders. The proposed budget
allocates $3.0 million in 2019. The 800 MHz system, an Eastern Communications system, will be
replaced with a Motorola system. According to DPW, the work has already been started and it is
anticipated that the remainder of this project will be completed in 2019. This project is for the radio
system used by the County’s Correctional Center, Sheriff’s Department, Office of Emergency
Management, and DPW. It is also utilized by all Volunteer Fire Departments in the County as well as
Village DPWs, and many other entities for emergency and administrative communications.

Site 4 is now on the air. Control channel is 770.26875. Would appreciate anyone who can run Unitrunker or DSD+ against the site to gather additional details such as alternate control channels, NAC, etc.
