I live near Kenner and since the National Guard are moving into New Orleans as today, it would be nice to have their frequencies...

Do they use same as police?

I'd love to hear what they will be doing!

Anyone?

Thanks

I agree... I would like to hear what they are up to.
but besides that, does the fact that they are moving national guard in bother anyone else?

How can the government justify these measures in the name of protecting a law-abiding population whom it completely disarmed during Hurricane Katrina, as criminal gangs and looters stalked neighborhoods?

welcome to the new police state...

Several possibles are on this Database:

State of Louisiana 800 (most likely)
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=266

LATIE (a chance to look for new talkgroups, if this system is used)
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=4347

NOLA Conventional
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1144

NOLA Public Safety (they could be using NOLA PD radios)
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=156

and, don't forget the military tactical frequencies:
25MHz to 88MHz (FM Wide)

and, the Intersquad radios:
The Federal Government's version of FRS (called ISR for Inter-Squad Radio).
The only radios I know of so far that is used in this band is the ICOM IC-4008M.
Narrowband FM. You will need to be nearby to hear the comms.
The main users of this radio service are the military and CAP:
01 396.875
02 397.125
03 397.175
04 397.375
05 397.425
06 397.475
07 397.550
08 397.950
09 398.050
10 399.425
11 399.475
12 399.725
13 399.925
14 399.975

You might try looking on the state trunking system. During the hurricane efforts, there was a bunch of traffic on the guard talk groups.

National Guard Frequencies

During Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the National Guard was deployed to the Cajundome to assist us in security. While they were there, they were using XTS5000 portables operating on 400mhz UHF frequencies. The radios were capable of Securenet operation, but they were not using it. There were 2 seperate groups of National Guardsmen there from Louisiana and Ohio (I think) and they both were using the same radios. However, I too listened to them on the State NG TG's in New Orleans, so Im not sure how they decide what system they will use.

During the hurricane there was alot of traffic on the state 800mhz national guard channels. I was listening to them alot during then, and for most "operations" that they did, they would say to go to "high band." -- which is most likely going to mean VHF Hi. You may want to try searching around and finding national guard VHF frequencies and plugging them all in to see if any are active.
