National Prepardness/Interop Channel

There is a channel don't know if its VHF or UHF, But I know they broadcast Federal alerts from DC on it, for instance Weather Closings/delays and the like fro federal agencies. And they do radio function checks with 98% of the federal agencies in DC...Running down a list of standby/ready so to speak...Does anybody out there ever heard this broadcast or have clue what frequency band it is on?

I will try theseMany Thanks, Agencies like PFPA, CP, PP, SCOTUS, USSS, FBI, DC Metro and countless others are called on this channel at certain times of the day as a status/readiness check, and also to broadcast severe weather warnings and closures.

Somehow I doubt that. NAWAS is for confidential communications during [nuclear] attacks and other disasters. Broadcasting it over a radio channel would defeat the purpose.

The States use vs the Federal use of NAWAS will vary.

NAWAS was originally the Hotline for the Big-One, however migrated [as did CD, EMA , FEMA etc] to an All-Hazards approach. What you hear [in-state] for Nawas is probably the Monthly [Checkerboard Test] Test which allows for a Fan-out via Phone, e-mail, Text and Radio notification.

Was 173.7875 ever confirmed?

155.745 in eastern Nebraska might be a Emergency Alert System feed (EAS). IIRC, NAWAS (National Warning and Alert System) is the hardwire system that links 'alert points' - EAS is the system that reaches out to the public via National Weather Radio, TV, commercial radio, etc.

This is a Fed Govie Freq for the Feds only, No Stateys involved. I am sure it came to place AFTER 9/11.
All Federal Agencies in the DC area check in on it daily at a certain time.

If they check in daily it shouldn't be too hard to catch during one of the check-in's.

You can try one of these I have found in a federal agency radio programming. They are listed as "DC INTEROP";

The first frequency is the DC MPD Simulcast from their trunked system.
