In this environment of political unrest leading up to the inauguration and beyond, what would be good to have loaded into my scanner?

At least personally, I'd probably put priority on having enough essentials (food, water, etc.)...

Don't forget the ammo!

Everything N1GAW mentioned is spot on, add the NJSP system also if you don't have it.

I also like to monitor air traffic and base activities at Joint Base McGuire. If things get busy there you know something is up.
Burlington County - McGuire Air Force Base (WRI) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
United States Air Force (57C) Trunking System, Multiple, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

For entertainment you could listen to the Hammies try to save the world on the ARES RACES nets! Stay safe.
