Is there a nationwide frequency listing? I am picking something up that is out of my state, I think. Missed the full callsign.

What makes you think you are hearing an amateur radio transmission?

If its an HF frequency, this may help.

There are many online amateur radio repeater listings. In my experience, the accuracy of most of them is questionable.

What do you mean? Can you clarify what you’re looking for, or what you heard you’re trying to identify?

Did you catch the frequency, and trying to ID the use/user? Or did you just catch the partial callsign, and trying to ID the freq?

Either way, sharing what you have might help.

IF it happens to be a ham repeater or ham digital or analog VoIP network you can find a list of repeater directories, frequency coordinators, analog networks and digital networks at Amateur Radio - The RadioReference Wiki. Some of those have online databases.

Looking up a ham callsign only tells you their mailing address. That doesn't tell you where the transmission originates from or the location of the station you are hearing it on.

nd5y is right. Over the years, my ham radios have broadcast in something like 45 states but my residence is in Georgia.

Ham could be passing thru Georgia, or he could be on a dmr/dstar/fusion repeater that has a analog link to it. Or he maybe a resident of Georgia.
