I've added the "low band" VHF NC DOT channels into my maxtrac and don't ever hear anything on them--are these still active or has the DOT switched to Nextel?

NCDOT still uses them. But like so many other agenices, they spend alot time on the cell phone.

I know Duplin Co. uses it quite a bit and so Sampson Co. But in Lenior Co I hear very little.

It's best to listen during a snowstorm. Lots of activity. I get too much lo band activity fron the western part of the state.

I can post some maps and such later.

Is the first frequency in your list the "base" channel?
