If you're like me, and you only update your copy of the EMS Dialcode manual once a year, it's time to check the site more-often.
The State of N.C. is in the process of upgrading the Med system to enhance repeater coverage, particularly on the calling channel - Med 10 (462.975 MHz.).
Eventually, users should be able to contact other users statewide via handhelds by linking repeaters in the system via DTMF. I believe I also recently saw an FCC license issued to the state covering splinter frequencies surrounding each of the med channels.
In past years, it seems the State OES has updated the Dialcode manual about once a year.
I was told Wednesday evening that OES is now updating the manual on a regular basis to keep EMS personnel up-to-date on all the changes that will take place throughout the year.
The most-current manual, dated May 19, can be downloaded in PDF (Adobe) format at:
http://facility-services.state.nc.us/EMS/dialcode.pdf
If you haven't looked through the Dialcode manual before, there is alot of excellent frequency, tone and operational information for each county in N.C.
My thanks to the director of the Union County EMS for mentioning the regular updates during a discussion I had with him earlier this week.
