257.2, aircraft referencing the flyby for tonight's race.

EDIT: Callsign VOODOO1, they're heading back to KCLT right now. I got a video of them flying by and then 10 minutes later they flew back around to head to Douglas. Right now they're requesting 10,000 for VFR.

BOBCAT94 - 2 Approaches & then a landing at KAVL earlier today, type Navy T-45 Goshawk. It had the large A on the tail with a 157 on the nose. I'm not sure of much other information such as base or squadron.

Cory-
Take a look at these pics of a T-45 that I took out at KRDU a weekend or so ago. I don't know if your catch and me spotting a Goshawk are related but it would not surprise me if it was:

It could be Marshall....same squadron/wing tail flash as my guy today. Research shows only a large white A or a large black B on the tails. I can't quite make out the nose # in your photos either....121 maybe? They come through here a lot, I never could pair the callsign with the aircraft though.

So far I've only located a 2 training squadrons (VT-21 & VT-22) in Kingsville, TX...aka a long way from here (twice the 700 mile range). Also VT-1 is based out of Pensacola. My grandfather mentioned that they would fly from FL to the big naval stations in VA and stop along the way in NC or SC for fuel or training. They seem quite fond of the low level training in the mountains of western VA & NC.

Hope this helps!

Re: T45C

Hi Trumpetman,

The A tail code indicates a T-45C out of NAS Meridian, TAW-1 VT-7.

Best regards,

Tony

Shuttle Discovery Launch

259.7 AM

Shuttle Discovery launch tonight was loud on the HT in the front yard here at the coast, and visible in between passing feeder bands from Tropical Storm Danny......low angle was obscured by clouds, but the mid point of flight was luckily clear.....numerous loud call downs from shuttle to earth on downlink freq 259.7 AM...........always a thrill !
