Does anyone know frequencies that are in use by schools/school buses in the Central/Western NC area?

I know that some counties have had their school channels identified already but others have not.

If I remember correctly, Stokes County uses 39.960 MHz ( http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?fccCallsign=WQLM989)

Forsyth County is on the RCS 800 MHz LTR system.

If anyone has more frequencies to add, please feel free to post them here!

Thanks!

Would you mind posting the county/school that uses it as well as the frequency?

Thanks everybody! Lets keep 'em coming!

And reconrider8, I totally understand!

Let's only share school bus frequencies, not channels used at individual schools.

Thanks!

"Stokes County confirmed to be on 39.960 MHz with a PL of 192.8. Antenna is located on Suaratown Mountain"

heard that for the first time just the other day trying to snag some lo-band milcom. for the first time in months i had literally chased down a local FM hit the day before, so of course, the Fever Was On. next day i was trying to follow that one up while activity was still brisk. then out of the silence, 39.96 PL 192.8 nice and strong. and persistant. very, persistant, i kept getting hung on it, over and over and over. didn't want to lock it out til i knew what it was tho. of course then i thought i had tripped across a band opening since i didn't recognize the name of the school and locations etc. wasted a good bit of time due to that. thanks for posting it though, since i never heard a peep anywhere else (as i expanded out from 38-40 to eventually 30-50mhz and further) it was really bugging me because it was so clear but i had no idea that it was local..ish. i so rarely hear anything below VHF-Hi that is new to me. wouldn't have guessed before that day lo band was being used by buses untill possibly much further west. still quite useful up in stokes i imagine. sounded very crisp.

im sorry i have no freqs to add but i never thought to "look" before now, so maybe in the future i will be able to contribute:)

No problem! Glad I could help! It is very clear, even on a handheld, at my location.

There is still some low band activity around here...

Scan around... you never know what you might stumble across. That is how I found the 39.960 MHz frequency.

Happy scanning!

Does anyone know what Iredell county uses? Been searching for while and haven't come up with anything. Can't even see an antenna on the buses to even know what band they are in.

Also, I'm looking for the frequencies used by:

- Davie County

- Surry County

- Yadkin County

And I would also like to find the frequencies for Iredell county.

Sorry I couldn't help you, xtl601.

Thanks in advance!

No problem, IcomIcR20. I'm new to the area and used to drive a school bus in NJ. Would like to hear if things are any different down here. I was thinking they may be on the county trunked system, but I don't have a digital scanner yet. i;ll keep searching and let you know if I find anything.
