Anyone in Northwest NC noticing lack of radio traffic in the Surry county area?? ive seen 2 new Voice channel freqs off of the Pores Knob site and additional voice channel off the Green Mt site..It seems the Doughton Mt site is inactive and it seems the Elkin DOT site isnt active either..Anyone with insight on this? ive been gathering info via (3) rtl sdr's and using SDR TRUNK to decode...771.25625, 770.04375 are the newest VC'S ive noticed off of PORES KNOB Site and 855.7875 VC Off the Green Mt site and these arent listed in the RR database...ill see about taking my laptop out with the dongles to see if im getting any Control Channels showing up and report back when i can..

Was through the area this week no issues with any sites in the area including those listed. Heard plenty of local traffic and state traffic.

I've not seen anything either and have seen and heard units on Doughton and Green mountain sites.
Not sure what is going on but it's likely localized to your equipment.

Multiple New Sites are being used in this area all with an RFSS of 4. I searched the database yesterday for the new sites I was picking up on my Harris XG-100M but none of them were listed on RR. I was driving so I could take pictures, but I believe they were RFSS 4 Site 9 and RFSS 4 Site 33.

Doughton site cc, at least last time i checked, isnt showing up in the spectrum on SDR TRUNK.dunno, as far as Elkin Dot site, ill have to confim it with getting closer with laptop, dongle and sdr trunk, the main sites im seeing are Green mt and Pores knob( pores knob being a pain with sdr dongles due to 770mhz freqs and 851mhz etc freqs having multiple dongles, with one set up for 770mhz spread vc freqs, (2-3) for 851+ mhz vc and cc freqs..sdr dongles are interesting, but in some cases not ideal for monitering odd ball sites..

that would be info of a curious nature..i know the state techs have been working in the region for the past many weeks, probably on phase 2 upgrades and/ or transitional work on the sites.

No, if you look at the Change History, they are simply removing the "0" from the Site Number on all sites. For example, instead of Site "017, it's now just 17".

One of the admins is updating the call signs for a lot of the VIPER sites (which is good because I recall a lot of them being out of date). That is what all the green you are seeing is.

If you will search all call signs for Viper. Most of them don't line up with what the FCC has.

I have also noticed some are still listed under the old special temporary authorizations.

Looks like the VIPER folks are busy moving sites to their new Zone 4. Guess it is time for folks to identify what has moved, identify the new site #'s, and submit to the database admins. It has been a while since we got to have fun like this!

Please submit changes, not to database Admins nor in forums, but to the link below.

Mooresville Site was switched today by Viper Techs to RFSS 4 Site 29. This is for the new Viper simulcast being built in Iredell County. I already submitted it in the database.

A lot of the changes to VIPER lately have been because I have gone through each site and updated the fcc license, if they were expired. Plus I am going around with a laptop and a ws1040 scanner and gathering control data to verify the site frequencies, collect neighbor site information etc

A site has been installed or a site was upgraded to the new RFSS 4. It's 4-38 but I haven't attempted to locate it yet. I sometimes can pick it up from my house Harris portable at my house. When I was in Cool Springs outside Statesville the other day, and I was picking it up on my handheld and mobile. I'm guessing somewhere in Davie or Rowan Counties.
