• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Don't see any talk groups for either of these on the Viper listings & still hear a bit of activity on the Wildlife freqs but little on 159.420 which used to be State Parks. Anyone know if/when they'll switch to Viper?

Not sure about Wildlife. I was told State Parks is planning to move to VIPER as parks get coverage. They have or are planning to order radios for VIPER. Most state parks currently use 159.420. I believe some state parks use 159.225, 159.240, and 159.270.

Local Parks, as well as Wildlife folks here in Asheville will transition when funding is applicable for radios after VIPER is online here in WNC. Of course SHP and others get priority on first.
