The old analog fregs (before the P25) were 477 - 478 but not used in many moons. I suspect he obtained them on one of two sites that still list them.
Correct, Grew up in Pennsylvania, went to Long Island University and graduated in 1974 and then went to St Joseph's University in Brooklyn for my graduate degree. Lived in Nassau County for about 15 years.

We're not talking about a decade old, we're talking about many decades old. I used to tuck my crystal controlled Electra bearcat thin scan, gold model, in my sun visor, using the rubber duck. Those analog frequency ranges were the crystals I had.😄

Moved back home in Pennsylvania in the mid 80s.

So you mean to tell me, there is no way to listen to NCPD
We mean to tell you that there hasn't been a way to listen to NCPD in over a decade. Probably 13 or more years at this point.

Nassau County Police

All Nassau County precincts are on the P25 Trunk system using encrypted talk groups.
This feed will remain online for if/when NCPD turns on the old UHF Simulcast. Offline

All of this encryption versus non-encryption seems to just boil down to the views of the local police chief, City council,, etc.... You have Nassau county law enforcement completely encrypted, Right next door you have Suffolk county law enforcement in the clear...

As usual, at least in the New York City New Jersey metro area, each local government and county government wants their own power as we see a piece meal of VHF UHF 700 and 800 systems All right next to each other, with virtually no interoperability.

Seems to me you have taken five steps backwards....

NCPD went to a 500mhz encrypted trunked system a number of years ago. The UHF system has been operable in a long time.
