Anyone know what the North Carolina Highway Patrol "NI" units are? I hear them logging off to dispatch at night, Example: "NI 22 is 10-42"

I don't think that is the NCSHP. Most likely NCALE, they use N prefixed call signs.

NCSHP Question

Indeed Nora Adam - Nora King units are North Carolina ALE. They do however follow the Patrol two digit suffix format for units...ie: Nora Ida Eleven NI-11 is the district supervisor and consistent with a Patrol District Supervisor (First Sergeant). NI-22 would follow, then NI-30, 31, 32...etc.

Nora Xray are NCALE Headquarters cars..NX-1 is obviously the Director, NX-2 the Deputy Director, etc.

I liked the old system better, but NCSHP said their computers could not handle it.
1100-1199 Guv and folks associated with the Guv's office
1200-1399 NCSBI
1400-1499 State Fire Marshal and other Council of State agencies
1500-1699 NCDMV
1700-1799 FBI, USSS, USPI, USMS and other Fed LE
1800-1899 NCALE

I can always remember 1581 becasue that was my number. The rest were confusing 3W44 and
WC-44. Heck , now I don't even remember which was my last one. :-(
