Since the net was being conducted on the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club UHF Super-link System, I expect he was on the Ketchum repeater: 444.875, 88.5 PL. It has excellent coverage around the entire Grand Lake area and is a full-time link throughout NE OK.
TARC - Tulsa Amateur Radio Club Choose "Repeater Systems" to see all the locations in the system with frequencies and PL tones.
Assuming the Mayes County group has fixed their problems of a year ago, their antenna is mounted very high so you might have some success. The same thing applies to the Vinita area repeaters that are on a tall GRDA tower. One of them is a dual-mode Yaesu System Fusion but I don't know which one for certain.
Well, I can receive the Decatur machine at an S3 and I can only make the repeater on an intermittent basis. Threw my call out a few times and was only able to activate the repeater twice. Obviously 5 watts is not going to be enough to make that repeater on a consistent basis, but it is promising for when I acquire 2m/440 mobile base in the near future! At least I hope it will, would really enjoy being able to make the count on your net one day
The Ketchum machine is completely out of reach for me at this time.
Sure would be awesome if the TARC-WALS would expand into Ottawa and Delaware Counties, it would bring Southwest Missouri stations into the system for sure.
Checked the Mayes repeaters and both Pryor machines are out of reach and the Chouteau machine is out as well, at least with my present 5 watt station.
I can hit the 2m Vinita machine, but can only receive it at an S1 - (147.360). I also tried the 444.375 UHF machine there, but could not hit it. Did receive at an S2 on it though. If you happen hear more about the dual-mode YSF one you mentioned and its not one of the two I tried, please let me know.
Anyhow, thanks for all the information, the TARC site has been bookmarked.
