Which one do you think would be better a Statewide TRS, same freq. range or Multipule Regional TRS. They do not have to be digital.

I think there should be a statewide TRS, UHF, Mot P25. The bigget problem with both is that the state is broke and the public will not pay for it.

The state would benefit the most from a statewide radio system that allowed for the option of local agencies to join in. This would allow for interoperability statewide. Unfortunately, the money is the biggest limiting factor. Due to the lack of STATE funds agencies will be forced to construct local or "regional" systems.

The big loser with these regional systems are the State agencies such as NSP, the department of roads, game and parks, etc. These agencies are all relying on obsolete radio systems. NSP's radio system is utilizing technology from the 1960's.

The regional systems will allow for interoperability within their regional coverage area, but these agencies will still be faced with challenges communicating with state agencies and neighboring regions.

A statewide trunked system would allow users to access the radio system regardless of their location within the state.

Take a look at South Dakota, Colorado, and Wyoming. These states are moving in the right direction.

I think the state is also looking at management of a state wide system. It would be difficult to track all the users. Trunking Systems have high maintenance cost. I think if they just have plain regional plan or systems, it would be easier to management and cost.

For example, you take Colfax, Platte, Merrick, and a group of counties that are is the same area. They would have High band repeater for their own use but would have mutual aid repeaters in each county. Your maintenance and radio programming is much less.

Then in Omaha/Washington, 800 trunking would work because of the people with tax base to pay for trunking system maintenance. Also they have the radio traffic to need trunking.

I drive through Dodge, Colfax and Cuming Counties Deputies hear only a couple of radio traffics an hour unless it is Friday night or Saturday night. That would not require trunking in my mind even if you put Fire on it. Fire Talk groups on trunking for fire grounds are almost against their associations believes and wants.

With peoples concerns about regional neighbors, Consoles can patch a lot of stuff together and it is proven in Lancaster, Sarpy, Cass, Douglas and Saunders come to my mind.

Only my believes.
