Why the change?

Why the change?

Mostly to do with the Nextel. When their service started, Nextel 800 mhz frequencies were causing problems in the 800mhz band, namely the police and fire allocation. That is also the reason ORION is rebanding.

Raycom handles traffic for a couple law/fire depts. on this side of the river, and a few in Iowa.

Cool, thanks for the information. I knew this project was underway in Iowa, but wasn't aware of when it would be done with the Nebraska sites.

Note for the Seward Site.
Seward county also holds a FCC license for that site. The RACOM frequencies may only be added. Won't know for sure until it is complete.

Is there any additional information as to the cut-over date? I noticed looking at other sites, it seems like the new rebanded freqs (in some Iowa sites) are merely added to the end of the database tables. Is this the correct order? Will the other channels be taken offline eventually?

This whole rebanding thing has me confused. I understand why it is being done, but haven't been following it very closely as it hasn't impacted me, until now (well, this very moment, but in the very near distant future). Since RACOM is rebanding, is it know if City of Lincoln/Lancaster County will be rebanded, or are they safe?

The new frequencies are not just added at the end of the tables. The old frequencies are being completely replaced. At some sites the LCN starts at 10. It doesn't seem like they are using the same LCN order at multiple sites like RACOM is using now.

No the lincoln/lancaster EDACS system does not have to be rebanded.

Regret to inform you that the Lincoln Lancaster system was rebanded several months ago

I'm not sure that they have. I refound this thread a few weeks ago and looked at the frequencies and plugged them in. I couldn't find a control channel on any of the frequencies that Racom was to reband to, and the old frequencies are still working.

He's talking about the Lancaster county system. Yes that system has been rebanded. I have not listened to the RACOM system in about 6-7 months.

Here is what I have thus far. Looks like LCN starts with LCN 11

LCN 11-856.1125
LCN 12-859.1125
LCN 13-857.1125
LCN 14-858.1125----Control Channel

I am still working out the kinks, seems I am missing something somewhere or my LCN's are off a little, getting partial transmissions and a very few complete transmissions.

Moderators, if this better fits the Nebraska Forum, my apologies. I felt this was the better spot to post this.

Norfolk has been rebanded. The frequencies in LCN order are:

LCN 09-856.1125
LCN 10-857.1125
LCN 11-858.1125---Control Channel
LCN 12-859.1125

The database has been changed.

Norfolk Control Channel

I'm showing 857.1125 as the control channel when I programmed the frequencies in yesterday. If it's like the old system thr control channel will change periodically. The PD radios are awfully noisey while everone else is clear.

I noticed the control channel shift yesturday while listening as well. Your right, the PD radios are not very clear.

It appears Lincoln has rebanded, though I don't know when for sure. The frequencies the OP posted are apparently in LCN.

854.0875
856.0875
858.0875 CC
859.0875
861.0875

I'm picking up traffic using just those freqs, but I wonder if they replace the all the freqs from the old system, or if they should be added to those frequencies, replacing only a few freqs. Anyone know?

Norfolk is on all new frequencies, and the frequencies available on the Norfolk tower has been cut back from 7 (if I recall correctly) to 4.

Norfolk Frequencies

I plugged the new frequencies in my old Radio Shack Pro-95 and 2062. Neither one will lock onto any of the new frequencies in Scan mode, Yet they will pick up transmissions in Manual. I've tried everything I could think of but cannot get them work in scan. I used Win95 for the Pro95 and programmed the 2062 by hand. Any suggestions? I know there was some scanners that weren't going work on the new frequencies but I'm not sure if these are one of them . Dave
