so does anybody know when the hartington site will be functioning?
Program the frequnices into your scanner for the site, found on the link provided by w0jjk at the top of the previous page (#12). When you get a control channel let us know.

Motorola will be turning on 5 or 6 sites the week of April 4th. Osceola and Humphrey will be two of them.

Howdy, everyone!

An Easter afternoon road trip to the Osceola / Humphrey areas revealed that neither site was broadcasting any data at that time.

No update on Nebraska City - nothing from that site either!

I have been waiting myself on the Humphrey and Elgin towers. Seems the Hartington tower was the only one lit up, however it has been stuck in failed status for a while now per Pro96com. Transmissions from NPPD are stating that there are "frequency issues" with that tower, and is not available.

I find it odd that Hartington is up when it is still not licensed while the two others are licensed and not up.

I will be up there this weekend, will be interesting if something has changed.

Norfolk site was the same way as well. When it was fired up, the license was cancelled, but continued to stream data over the control channel with voice transmissions. It was well over a couple of months the call sign was actually issued, however with a modification due to a location change. The original application showed the tower in Madison County, but it actually sits about a mile east of the Madison/Stanton line.

Today, the Hartington site shows Connected, Current. The State radio van ( I assume that is what it is, a white van with various antennas on the roof) is parked at NDOR, with Troopers and NDOR employees gathered around it. Seen a person with a laptop near the van with a portable connected to the laptop.

I will be up there this weekend

Nice! Enjoy your stay out here :).

Here are some pictures of NSP's dispatch centers.
If you look close enough you can see the radio consoles screen. You can see some channels grouped together for simulcasting in troop hq's picture.

I worked a personal injury accident on JFK north of Harrison Street with an NSP
trooper this morning. I asked about their new radio system and if he'd heard when
A-Troop would be on the air. They keep hearing "soon" but no confirmed date.

His car is already equipped with a Motorola APX 6500 mobile radio with an O5
control head in anticipation of the migration to VHF. He added that although, he
can't use the radio to communicate with, he has to have it on and use the APX
microphone for the public address function.

Talked to a Troop A dispatch about 1-2 monthes ago. They said 1/2 of the cruisers had the new radios installed and IIRC dispatch was getting the new consoles installed at that time.

Planning for Nebraska -- Homeland Security and Interoperable Communications

"There are about
15 sites left to install. Elgin and Kimball are still pending. Omaha, Plattsmouth, Craig, Jones Creek, Fall City, Nebraska City, and Sterling are waiting on federal frequency approval ; Hartington, Humphrey, Osceola, Superior, and Franklin will be done by April 4th. Some completed sites experienced interference during storms, but OCIO is working to fix these issues."

Looks like the eastern half of the state will be using federal frequencies. That could cause the delay while they wait for the NTIA to get frequencies.

No idea what their plan is to incorporate the VTAC and UTAC channels into the states vision.

If I remember Vcall, Ucall and Icall sites won't be completed till 2012. Vcall and Vtac at all sites through out the state. Icall and Itac eastern half of the state, I-80 corridor and the panahndle. Ucall and Utac mainly I-80 corridor and south.
Don't know how they are going to build it out. Don't know if it is going to be the same way as N-WIN west to east or not.
