Humphrey Tower-Live!

Started receiving data bits off Humphrey tower this afternoon. Receiving decode rates between 45-99% here in Norfolk on my Pro106 with RadioShack telescoping whip. Similar results with the ducky. So I should pull some traffic from Humphrey without much trouble.

Showing Troop HQ affiliating to Humphrey.

Here is the Pro96com info:

Humphrey-Failed

Showing Humphrey in the "failed, current" status this afternoon.

Troop HQ Trooper that affiliated with the tower last night brought in a fair amount of chatter. Hopped in the car and checked reception across town. Overall, decent coverage, did get a bit choppy Downtown, near the Elkhorn River area and north, past Eisenhower Ave on Hwy 81.

Inside my residence, near 13th and Benjamin, good decode rate, in the 45-99% area as mentioned in Wednesday's post, my only dead spot, is near the computer, out of all places.

It appears Motorola radio techs are headed to Humphrey to check on the problem, they were talking to the TOC (Technical Operations Center/Lincoln) on TG 3564/Radio ID 99 a few minutes ago.

Awesome GOLDENDOME! I will submit to Data Admin to update the frequencies to show the control channel and alternate.

Since my southern neighbor in Humphrey has been lit up, there has been no shortage of NSP activity. Me thinks Troop B has all but migrated to N-WIN except the eastern portion of B.

Thanks,
for what I can tell they have been moving around the cc between the alternate. I think they had some interference with Wyoming. I will keep you updated,N7QJA. So far the site is not showiing neighbors

Howdy, Rich!

Good discovery - I am planning on driving out that way on Saturday, so I'll collect some info for Osceola and share that with the group!

Hi All,

Can anyone provide some clarification on site 164 Hartington? According to the FCC, the site is licensed for these freqs:
154.010
154.680
155.310
155.565

However, I received information that 154.265 is the current active control channel for this site. I just want to double check that this is a valid frequency.

Thanks,

Joe

More info on N-WIN

Howdy, everyone!

As promised, I made a trip to the York and Geneva areas on Saturday and gathered some good info on the N-WIN via my BCD396XT and Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook!

Here are my monitoring notes as submitted to the DB Admins. I have some frequency changes to submit as well, but I'll need to dig into my Pro96Com system files to retrieve them. I think that site frequency changes are being made in the field and will be included into the relevant FCC licenses at a later date as some of what I observed on Saturday definitely doesn't jive with the FCC licenses nor does it with the listings here on RR.

----------
From a recent trip to the York, NE area, I gathered some information, using Pro96Com, on the N-WIN trunking system as follows:

Superior is Site # 0172 - got this from the Milford site's Neighbor list. The advertised Superior CC is 154.8750. I wasn't able to get a reliable decode on the site for more info, however.

Franklin is Site # 0171 - got this from the Giltner site's Neighbor list. The advertised Franklin CC is 154.9800. I wasn't able to get a reliable decode on the site for more info, however.

Osceola is Site # 0173 - the Primary CC is 155.6250 and the alternate is 155.3550.

As Rich pointed out, Humphrey is Site # 0174 - the Primary CC is 156.1900 and the alternate is 155.9100.

NACs from the sites I could hear reliably:

Lincoln: 147
Milford: 144
Osceola: 14C
Humphrey: 149
Giltner: 14A
Beatrice: 141

I haven't yet heard anything out of Nebraska City, though from other sources it appears that the antenna location may be changing along with the frequencies. Tough-going for VHF in this part of the state due to existing users and the close proximity to VHF-heavy Iowa.

As I get opportunities, I'll continue to dig for info and pass it along!

Geo

Cool!

Good info George, glad you can take the time to gather more data!

Unfortunately, I don't have a laptop computer, (*it is in the budget) so I am kinda limited to what tower info I can pass along. Ducting will be my friend when the eastern towers are lit up.

For your area George, N-WIN is going to use Federal Frequencies for the Troop A, and eastern areas of Troop B and HQ, pending frequency coordination with the Feds, and yes, the Nebraska City antenna is going to be moved and is pending the lease on the tower.

Having the Humphrey tower and it being near the Troop HQ/C borders brings in a variety of transmissions from both Troops. A lot of the time, it seems to be busier than Norfolk tower.

Now, I am still am wondering why the rest of the fields on the analyz mode in my Pro106 are still blank, but show the info on Pro96com. Still no WACN, Sys#, R (region), and S (site#). I do get the decode rate and NAC, Norfolk is 14B.

Howdy Rich and all!

Yeah - a small Netbook-sized computer comes in quite handy for road trips like these! I had mine running Pro96Com while connected to my 396XT - the 396XT was connected to my Austin Spectra wide-band scanner antenna. Plus, don't forget the appropriately-sized inverter so that you run AC-powered devices such as the power supply for your computer!

I really wanted to find a Primary CC for Site #170 - I suspect that Superior would probably have that, but haven't had the time to drive out that way yet!

Rich - does the Norfolk site contain any Neighbor info that would shed light upon Naper or Elgin? I suspect that those two would account for Sites 163 and 165.

You're definitely right about the Humphrey site and the traffic it's carrying. When I was in the area, Osceola appeared to also carry quite a bit of both data and voice traffic as the NSP presence along HW92 was quite visible that afternoon.

For the Federal frequencies, is the consensus pointing toward the 163 MHz. area for the eastern part of the state?

Have a GREAT day!

Naper and Elgin

George, I am not showing any info on the Naper tower in Pro96com. Either it is not functioning or not considered a neighbor to Norfolk.

Elgin has not been lit up yet, I do not show any neighbor sites pointing towards Elgin. Per the N-WIN meeting minutes, Elgin is still waiting on a lease to use the tower.

On the frequencies for the Omaha area, It could be almost anywhere on the VHF federal frequencies N-WIN will wind up on if they do use Fed freq. .

For the most part, it is going to be a wait and see for Elgin and the Omaha area.

NAC codes

Does anyone have a list of the Nac codes? I've found the one's listed on RF with the freqs aren't right. Thanks.

Active tower in Omaha??

Is there a N-WIN tower alive in the Omaha area? Heard a trooper earlier today calling Lincoln was at the 132rd and F St area in Omaha, will be 10-10 truck inspections.

That would put the trooper near Millard Lumber/L Street Marketplace area.
