I need a good indoor antenna for 30 bucks or less (if possible) for the 150-160 band. Thanks.

indoor antenna

I would suggest two possibilities. 1) a simple ground plane made with an SO-239 connector and some copper wire (18-19 inch elements) is as basic as you can get. 2) a homemade J pole will give you some gain over a GP, search Jpole or go to the ARRL site for instructions. made from twinlead, they are very simple to make

happy scanning

I use a RS 20-176 indoor mounted on a camera tripod with surprisingly good success up to 60 miles. It's cheap...you will need coax and possibly adapters, but it will all come in under 50 bucks. I also use a RS mag mount indoors, and without a cookie sheet groundplane on these bands with acceptable results at 25 miles. cookie sheet under the mag mount would improve it. It comes with a motorola end, so adapters again may be required.

Scantennas can be bought online with coax for close to your price range, and can be used indoors too.

Mind you these indoor antenna rigs may cause trouble with your XYL....mine is quite tolerant ;-)
